About the Soaring and Bounding Tribe
The Tribe of the Soaring Falcon
The Tribe of the Soaring Falcon (The Soaring Tribe) are rumored to be the most observant, as well as the best Hunters in the Forest. They live in a huge village of treehouses, far above the forest floor for protection against enemies and wild animals. The village contains many ladders and bridges that link the houses together, which are built layer upon layer. Large, rope-lifted, woven baskets serve as elevators so that products and tribemembers can be transported all the way down to the Forest floor (although, of course, there are other means to get down if one wishes to be discreet). The people in this tribe must be highly skilled at tree climbing, as well as swift on their feet. A big part of their life is spent amongst the tall branches of trees. Children rarely venture out of their treetop village until they become Learners, especially by themselves. The tribemembers dress in shades of green and brown, and the more skilled warriors often wear canopy suits. A canopy suit is usually green in color, and provides the ability to extract wings- like that of a bat, so that in case of falling (the drop is usually at least four hundred feet off the ground), the warrior could glide to safety. The wings are checked regularly to help prevent malfunction, but accidents do happen. The Soaring Tribe is perhaps the most spirited at heart. Though personalities obviously vary: they are raised to have a keen awareness of their surroundings, and are quite the independent type. Often having to come face-to-face with outlaws or wild beasts, these people usually have good knowledge of mostly the bow and arrow, as well as small blades, such as daggers. Familiars mostly include birds of prey and ferrets...sometimes larger tree-climbing animals. Tribe members are often referred to as the "Soarers" by others.
TRADITIONS/QUIRKS
-The Soaring Tribe members are known to be good with various crafts. Fun fact: knot-tying classes are a given while one is in the process of learning the ropes of tribe-life (haha get it)
-Known to prefer the bow and arrow or small weapons, such as daggers.
HAND SIGNALS/BODY LANGUAGE
-Body language is a very important aspect of every day as a warrior, as is bodily control. Because warriors must learn the art of control and camouflage in order to succeed in tasks such as hunting, their body language is known to be subtle and harder to decipher.
-When signaling goodbye, the Soarers use a similar motion as that of the human "wave", except they tuck their thumb into the palm of their hand, meaning, that they hope for a quick return

The Tribe of the Bounding Panther
Their village is located on the Forest Floor...amidst the trees. Well...inside the trees, as well. You see: unlike the The Soaring Tribe; the Bounding Tribe's lodges are larger; to house more than one person in each lodge. They are called "lodges" but are really homes built into the trunks of trees. In this particular village Clearing- many of their trunks are hollow. There are usually four people to a lodge, though when two people bond and later have children; a seperate home is built for that family (read Relationships and Children on the Information Pg.). The Tribe of the Bounding Panther is often thought to have the best battle abilities...they spend a lot of their time protecting their village and territory; after all. Though it's quite a vulnerable place at times-being the Forest Floor- the village is surrounded by a very high wooden wall- woven and roped together with thick vines- and the Warriors take turns guarding the three entrances to the village. It is built inside of an area of water, like a little island, with three main bridges (the south, west and east bridge) that connect the village to the actual forest ground. The wall is difficult to climb over; which effectively keeps the Children from wandering into the Forest...but that doesn't mean it can't be done.
TRADITIONS/QUIRKS
-The Bounding Tribe are known to be a little superstitious at times. They hang horseshoes in front of doors, and little chimes and bells hang around the trunks and branches of trees and on lodges all around the village, causing the village to have the background noise of occasional subtle music on windy days. For some Tribe members this is simply tradition, rather than them having associations with luck and such. -There are large bells in the middle of the village, which are rung on special occasions and celebrations (again, originally thought to bring good luck and drive evil spirits away). HAND SIGNALS/BODY LANGUAGE -Among friends and fellow tribers, a common signal for departure is given: the right hand is held up with crossed index and middle fingers. This is considered to be a wish of good fortune. |
